Privacy Policy
Ladel helps firms find people for jobs and for business. That means we hold information about professionals as well as about the people who use Ladel. This policy explains what we hold, why, who sees it, and how anyone can see, correct or remove what we have about them.
To remove your profile from Ladel, write to privacy@ladel.ai. You do not need an account.
01Who we are
Ladel is a service of [Company legal name] Private Limited (CIN [Corporate Identity Number]), with its registered office at [Registered office address, India]. In this policy, “Ladel”, “we” and “us” mean that company.
Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the DPDP Act) we are the Data Fiduciary for the personal data described here, except where a customer decides why and how data is used, as section 7 explains.
02Whose data this covers
This policy covers three groups of people:
- Customers: the firms that subscribe to Ladel and the people at those firms who use it. We call them users.
- Professionals: the people whose work profiles appear in Ladel’s search results.
- Visitors: people who browse this website without signing in.
03What we collect from users
- Account details: name, work email, firm name, role and a password, which we store only as a salted hash.
- What you put into Ladel: searches, chats, projects, shortlists, verdicts and notes, and documents you attach, such as job descriptions or intake notes.
- Usage and device data: pages used, features used, contact lookups made, IP address, browser type, and timestamps.
- Billing details: billing contact, GST number and invoices. Card and bank details are handled by our payment provider; we do not store them.
- Messages you send us, such as support requests.
04What we hold about professionals
Ladel’s search data is built from information that professionals or their employers have made publicly available, together with data licensed from business information providers. It typically includes:
- Name, profile photo, headline and a public profile link.
- Current and past job titles, employers, dates and function.
- Education where it is on record: school, degree and dates.
- City or region. We do not hold home addresses.
- Information about employers: sector, size, funding, investors, acquisitions and listing.
- Business contact details, such as a work email or work phone number, but only when a user asks for them. We obtain these from contact data providers at that moment.
We do not collect, and we design Ladel not to infer, sensitive information such as Aadhaar or PAN numbers, financial account details, health, caste, religion, sexual orientation, political opinions or biometric data. If you see any such information about yourself in Ladel, tell us and we will remove it.
Where personal data has been made publicly available by the professional, the DPDP Act does not apply to it (section 3(c)(ii)). We still give every professional the rights in section 11 of this policy, because we think that is the right thing to do.
05How we use personal data
- To run Ladel: search, rank and explain results, keep your projects and history, find contact details you ask for, and export what you choose to export.
- To process your requests with AI. Ladel sends the text of your request, and the records needed to answer it, to an AI model provider. The AI suggests and ranks; it does not make hiring or business decisions. Your users do.
- To keep accounts secure, prevent fraud and misuse, and enforce our Terms.
- To meter usage, bill and support you.
- To improve Ladel, using usage data and, where needed, de-identified samples.
- To meet legal obligations, such as tax records and lawful requests from authorities.
We do not sell users’ personal data. We do not use your chats or uploaded documents to train AI models, and we choose AI providers whose terms do not allow them to train on that content.
06Why we are allowed to
For users, we rely on your consent when you create an account and on the legitimate uses the DPDP Act allows, such as using data you have voluntarily provided for the purpose you provided it (section 7(a)) and meeting legal obligations. For people outside India, we rely on our contract with you and on our legitimate interest in running a lawful business service.
For professionals, we rely on the public-data exemption described above and, outside India, on our legitimate interest and our customers’ legitimate interest in finding people for jobs and business relationships. We balance that interest by limiting the data to professional information and by honouring opt-outs.
07When the customer is in charge
When a user shortlists, exports or contacts a professional, the customer decides what happens next. For that use, the customer is a Data Fiduciary in its own right and must follow the law, including giving notice to the people it contacts and honouring their requests. Our Terms require this.
If you are a professional and a firm contacted you through Ladel, you can ask that firm directly, or ask us and we will pass your request on.
09Data outside India
Some of our service providers process data outside India. We transfer data abroad only as section 16 of the DPDP Act allows, never to a country the Government of India has restricted, and under contracts that require protection at least as strong as this policy.
10How long we keep it
- Account data and your projects: while your firm’s account is open, then for up to 90 days so you can export it, then deleted, unless the law needs us to keep part of it.
- Chats and uploaded documents: until you delete them or the account closes.
- Contact details found for a user: kept with that user’s project, and refreshed or removed on our regular data refresh.
- Professionals’ profiles: while they remain accurate and in use. A professional who opts out is removed and kept on a suppression list so the profile is not added again.
- Security logs: at least 180 days, as CERT-In’s directions require.
- Billing records: eight years, as Indian tax and company law requires.
11Your rights
Whether you are a user or a professional, you can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal data we hold about you and who we have shared it with.
- Correct, complete or update it.
- Erase it, or remove your profile from Ladel’s search results.
- Withdraw consent you gave us, as easily as you gave it.
- Nominate someone to exercise these rights if you die or become unable to.
Write to privacy@ladel.ai from the email address the request concerns, or include a link to the profile. We may ask you to confirm your identity. We will answer within 30 days and never later than the law allows. There is no fee.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to our Grievance Officer (section 14) and then to the Data Protection Board of India. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
12How we protect it
We encrypt data in transit, hash passwords, limit staff access to what each role needs, keep each firm’s projects separate from every other firm’s, and keep audit logs of who searched, added and removed what.
If a breach affects personal data, we will tell the Data Protection Board of India and the people affected as the DPDP Act requires, and report to CERT-In within six hours of noticing it, as its directions require.
14Grievance Officer
Our Grievance Officer is [Grievance Officer name], reachable at grievance@ladel.ai or by post at [Registered office address, India]. We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours, aim to resolve them within 15 days, and always resolve them within one month.
15Children
Ladel is a business service for adults. We do not knowingly hold data about anyone under 18. If you believe we do, write to privacy@ladel.ai and we will delete it.
16Changes to this policy
We will post any change here and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we will tell users by email or in Ladel at least 14 days before it takes effect.
